This year myself (Sheena Johnson) and Mandy Long will once again be your club volunteer coordinators. We will be sharing information about volunteer opportunities, tracking credits, and answering any questions related to volunteering. Mandy is busy getting the volunteer tracking spreadsheet ready for the year, and a link for that will be coming in the next month or so. As a reminder the volunteer commitment by club (per athlete) is as follows. A family is required to collect points (or pay the fees) for up to two athletes (e.g., if a family has three athletes, they will be required to volunteer/pay the bond for two). One thing to remember is members must earn at least one financial credit. If you get it done early its easy: the Calgary Ski Sale is coming up in October (Ski Sale Sign-up) AND we have two casinos coming in January (Please sign-up for shifts at either casino location here). We will be sharing volunteer opportunities throughout the year, as they come available. Currently we have identified a few new volunteer roles, that need filled. If you are interested in any of them let us know. Below we also have a list of the common opportunities, and the credits allocated to each.
If you have any questions about volunteering, the tracking spreadsheet of if a specific role is eligible for credits, just send us an email at [email protected]. Sheena Johnson & Mandy LongCo-Volunteer Coordinators, Lake Louise Ski Clubs Winsport Season Passes are available now at Winsport.ca. and Early Bird Pricing is available until SEPTEMBER 24, 2024. We recommend athletes who are registered for Winsport Add On Packages in U12, U14 and Freeride purchase a season pass for 2024:25. FREERIDE athletes MUST also add the ADVANCED TERRAIN PARK PASS to their season pass as we frequently use facilities this pass is required for. U10 Athletes (both Grizzly 1 day and Grizzly Plus) planning to ski at Winsport should plan to purchase single day tickets to participate in their Winsport Add On Package based on the number of program days scheduled at Winsport. If you are planning to register for evening Winsport training and have not yet added the package in RAMP, please do so as soon as possible. Not only will you get to take advantage of early bird passes, but it also helps us plan appropriate staffing for these sessions. Space is still available for U10+, U12 Race & U14 Race. Grizzly 1 Day & Freeride nights are full. Training Times By Program:
Specific start dates and program specific Winsport schedules will differ from program to program. Your Head Coach will communicate these when calendars are published. Jennifer ClarridgeAthletic Director, Lake Louise Ski Clubs Plan to join us at Bear Street Outfitters in Banff during the afternoon Saturday, October 5, 2024! This will be after dryland for our older athletes. More details will follow.
Dryland programming for Race and Freeride athletes saw a successful week and we are very happy to see the level of participation through all ages and activities. We are happy to announce that we do have additional spots available in our CSI Strength and Conditioning program for athletes in U16, FIS and BMC athletes born 2010 and older. If you are not currently registered, please send an email to [email protected] and we can set up registration details. The program is Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 5:30 - 7:00 from now until November 14 2024 at Winsport. Jennifer ClarridgeAthletic Director, Lake Louise Ski Clubs We are thrilled to be formally introducing the rebranding of the Louise Louise Ski Clubs! This season our staff has been dedicated to discussing our identity as an organization and the evolution of our programming, staff and culture. Along with this visual change comes a new era for our All Mountain program, who will now officially be known as the Lake Louise Freeride Ski Club! Our refreshed logos with sophisticated colours and a distinct identity for all three clubs - Race, Grizzlies, and Freeride - were crafted to represent our ongoing commitment to you, our membership. It embodies what it means to be a skier, an athlete, a volunteer, and a member of the greater skiing community at Lake Louise. Our rebrand also reflects the pride we take in our longstanding relationship with the Lake Louise Ski Resort and we are grateful for their partnership and contributions towards our athletes' continued success. This new look was driven by our core values: Unity, Excellence, and Adventure. These guiding principles define our past and present culture and move us forward as we grow as an organization. Whether is the unity that binds our diverse membership together, our pursuit of excellence on and off the slopes, or the adventurous spirit that drives us, our new branding captures it all. We maintain a strong emphasis on our RISE values and philosophy - Respect, Inclusion, Support, and Effort - which remain central to our mission. These values foster a culture and environment that is safe, welcoming and inclusive for all.
Gavin PreziosiExecutive Director, Lake Louise Ski Clubs As you have hopefully read in our Volunteer Policy, at minimum one of the volunteer opportunities you participate in must be considered a financial opportunity. There are two primary ways to earn financial credits - the Calgary New & Used Ski Sale and Casinos. These are by far the Clubs' largest fundraisers of the season. While we were not expecting any casinos until later in the year, we have been awarded 2 in January and as such we all need to step up! You will find all the details and sign up links below. Unavailable to work a Ski Sale or Casino shift? Reach out to me as soon as possible to discuss alternatives.
