11/27/2025

Picture
We love celebrating the journeys of our Lake Louise Ski Club alumni, and today we’re thrilled to highlight Thomas Cais. Thomas has built a meaningful partnership with Emerald Lake Lodge—one that reflects his roots, his character, and the strong ties between our athletes and the mountain communities that support them. We couldn’t be prouder to see one of our own create such a special connection with a local business. If you find yourself visiting Emerald Lake, we encourage you to share your support for Thomas and thank the lodge for backing his ski racing pursuits.

Lake Louise Ski Clubs (LLSCs) is excited to announce a special collaboration with Dare to Care on December 13 and 14 at Lake Louise. These sessions are designed to empower athletes with tools and strategies to foster respect, inclusion, and positive team culture both on and off the slopes.

The Dare to Care program is widely recognized for its impactful approach to building safe and supportive environments in sports. By integrating these sessions into our training schedule, LLSCs continues its commitment to developing not only strong athletes but also strong community leaders.

Head coaches will communicate the specific time that individual groups will attend sessions during their regularly scheduled training on Dec. 13 or 14.

A note from our Freeride Head Coach

11/27/2025

The season is here! After an incredible staff training and fresh snowfall, we’re ready to kick off our first weekend of freeride fun!  The big snowfall during staff training made us even more excited for the season!

We kicked off the season with our in-house FUNdamentalz Course for coaches. Everyone had an amazing time and learned a lot!

Then this past weekend we had all our coaches on snow for 2 days of training. We made sure we are all on the same page to deliver super fun training. We developed strategies to ensure safety always remains our top priority, while we work together as a whole team to make sure athletes have fun while making real progress in their skiing!

Our coaches are ready and geared up for the season! We are all looking forward to kicking off our first weekend of training with great conditions!

This weekend will be amazing for all athletes to get together and socialize with everyone in the club, get to know their coaches and start to work with coaches to make a plan for the season!

We can’t wait to see everyone out there—let’s make this season unforgettable!

New & Used Ski Sale Recap

11/14/2025

We’re thrilled to share that the 2025 Calgary New & Used Ski Sale was a resounding success — with nearly $1.4 million in merchandise sold and 10,000 attendees over the weekend! This achievement makes 2025 our second-best sale ever, just behind the record-setting 2023 event.

With a record inventory of $2.6 million, our volunteer team cleared the Max Bell Centre arena floor earlier than ever before — a remarkable feat that speaks to the dedication and efficiency of everyone involved.

This year’s sale was powered by the collective efforts of the Calgary Ski Club, the Canadian Ski Patrol – Calgary Zone, and the Lake Louise Ski Club, with proceeds supporting vital programs in recreational skiing, competitive youth ski programs, and ski safety education throughout Calgary and the Bow Valley corridor.

🏆 Volunteer Recognition
We also want to spotlight two amazing people from the LLSC's community who were honoured at the volunteer appreciation dinner for their outstanding individual leadership and the impact they had on this year’s sale:

🌟 Muneer Gilani – Outstanding Executive Award
As the head of the Shop Consignment Department, Muneer brought focus, calm, and results-driven leadership to a critical role. Muneer is only in his second year as a parent with the Lake Louise Ski Clubs, yet he graciously stepped into this demanding position and delivered exceptional results. We are deeply grateful for his commitment and contributions.

🛠️ Nicholas McCurry – Builder Award
The Builder Award is the highest honour the sale can bestow, and this year it goes to Nicholas McCurry, head of the IT Department. Nick developed and implemented the new software system that powered our operations — a bold and transformative step. As one organizer put it, “We were flying the plane while it was still under construction — and it was an excellent journey.” Most of you may not know this, but Nick is also a proud Lake Louise Ski Clubs alumni, having started in the Nancy Greene program and raced through U16. Today, he continues to make a significant impact on our club and community through his technical leadership and unwavering dedication to the ski sale.

THANK YOU MUNEER AND NICK

🙌 Thank You to All Volunteers
This year’s success was made possible by the incredible efforts of our volunteers, who navigated leadership transitions and new systems with grace and determination. Your work supports the growth and safety of skiing in our region — and we couldn’t be more proud.

Here’s to another great season on the slopes!

A Message From Your Executive Director

11/14/2025

Greetings from the Lake!

Many families and our senior Race athletes have been enjoying their first days on snow. Thanks to the resort’s world-class snowmaking and expert grooming team, the open terrain is in excellent shape.

As excitement builds for the season, I’d like to highlight a couple important reminders:
  1. Safety: The slopes and lift lines are busy with other eager skiers. Please stay aware of your surroundings, be patient, and avoid skiing in large groups. Always keep an eye out for yourselves and others.
  2. Patience: Please show proper lift line etiquette—wait your turn, be courteous to Resort Staff, and never cut in line or use the wrong lines. Also, let’s give mother nature time. The resort team is working hard to open more terrain as quickly and safely as possible. For those of you excited to get off piste, please resist the urge, there is no base and ducking rope lines is a good way to lose your pass. If you’re looking forward to getting gates in the ground, they will be set as soon as conditions allow. We will reach our training targets and enjoy a full, rewarding season ahead.

Looking forward to a safe and snowy winter together!
