Hi everyone! What an incredible start to the ski season! It feels like Mother Nature has outdone herself this December—more fresh snow than we could have hoped for. Endless powder days and a strong sense of community have made this an unforgettable kickoff to our season. It’s been such a pleasure meeting so many new faces and seeing people step into volunteer roles. Your energy and enthusiasm are what make this season so special. All our programs are in full swing, and we’ve just finished a busy weekend ahead before the holiday break. Freeride spent the weekend in Kicking Horse, our FIS athletes were racing in Panorama, and we hosted the U16 and U14 athletes at the South Zone Open SL race (grizzly bear and all). Lots to cheer for! I also want to send best wishes to Coach Emile for a speedy recovery after his injury last Sunday in West Bowl. Huge thanks to Ski Patrol and his athletes for handling the situation with such professionalism and care. Enjoy your holiday break, and I hope you get plenty of ski days with family and friends! Bonus! Check out my new original song to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas. On the twelfth day of December, Lake Louise gave to me
Gavin PreziosiExecutive Director, Lake Louise Ski Clubs We would like to announce GearUp Mountain Sports is returning as our RISE sponsor for this season! In addition to supporting the Clubs' RISE initiative, GearUp is offering all LLSCs members, including parents, 15% off all ski/board services (this is better than the 10% discount we are offered as Alberta Alpine members). Make sure to mention you're a LLSCs member when dropping off your equipment! GearUp is the premier tuning shop in Western Canada proudly supporting the Alberta Ski Team, the Canadian National ski cross team (including Reece Howden's), the Canada Alpine Snowboard team and the Canadian National Para Snowboard team. Our Montana machines provide top level grinding and polishing. We have specific structures (grinds) for race, all mountain and recreational skis. GearUp now stocks Swix wax and tools along with a selection of Sidecut Tuning tools. Along with our ski service we offer sports equipment rentals for all seasons. We would like to give a special shout out to our first two RISE recipients of the season, coach Sam Ogryzlo and ski grandparent extraordinaire Joey O'Brien!
We are changing how we are recognizing our RISE athletes this season. Rather than one athlete per club per month, coaches will be recognizing RISE moments with stickers and shout outs during daily debriefs. This will allow us to recognize many more athletes over the course of the season. At the end of the season, each group will nominate their group's RISE athlete of the year. This athlete will be entered into the draw for new skis. Watch for our new RISE stickers to start appearing on our athletes helmets! We'd like to give a big thank you to GearUp for our new RISE stickers, hats and toques! Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs The Grizzlies are officially back on the mountain, and the season is off to an incredible start! As of last weekend, all our athletes were on snow, embracing the winter conditions with enthusiasm and energy. This year, the Grizzlies community is stronger than ever, with 98 athletes and nearly 30 dedicated coaches across our programs: Grizzlies 1-Day, Grizzlies Plus, and the exciting new G12 program. The addition of G12 marks a big step forward in providing more opportunities for growth and development. So far, the athletes have shown an eagerness to train and improve, while our coaches are thrilled to guide them through what promises to be a fantastic season. With this level of commitment and excitement, the Grizzlies are set for an unforgettable winter! Stay tuned for more updates as we carve our way through the season. ❄️⛷️ Emily ClarkeHead Coach, Lake Louise Grizzlies Ski Club
@race_lakelouiseskiclubs @grizzlies_lakelouiseskiclubs @freeride_lakelouiseskiclubs Follow along on all our journies and tag us in your adventures at Lake Louise and with our amazing community this season. Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs As our athletes prepared for the upcoming season, the LLSC coaching staff was hard at work behind the scenes. Coaches across all clubs have participated in specialized staff training, completed required certifications, and engaged in professional development courses to ensure they’re ready to deliver the best experience for our athletes. To kick things off, the entire team gathered for an all-staff meeting led by Executive Director Gavin Preziosi. The session focused on collaboration, growth, and aligning on goals for the season ahead—setting the tone for a strong and united coaching community. And to wrap up the pre-season preparations in style, coaches from Grizzlies, Freeride, and Race came together for our first annual Coaches Curling Bonspiel! It was an evening filled with friendly competition, laughter, and team spirit. 📸 Check out the action below and the reel posted to the new Grizzlies Instagram account. The Volunteer Bond The volunteer requirement varies by club: A family is required to collect points (or pay the fees) for up to two athletes (e.g., if a family has three athletes, they will be required to volunteer/pay the bond for two athletes). Members should volunteer for at least one financial opportunity and one community building opportunity. This is a minimum of 1 point in each opportunity category. The full policy can be found on the website here. How we Track Throughout the year, volunteer time will be tracked in the Tracking Spreadsheet. We receive a list from the event organizers (internal and external) and then match the parents' names to their athletes to award credits. For adhoc opportunities we may not receive a tracking sheet, so don't hesitate to bring them to our attention. Also if you have someone other than yourselves volunteer for your family, just let us know at [email protected]. Please check your volunteer points from time to time, and if you think something has been missed, email [email protected]. But remember we are volunteers too, so points may take a little while to get in the system. Make sure you have checked the sheet before the end of the ski season, as volunteer bonds are charged May 1, 2026, and if its reversed, you are charged the admin fee. Volunteer Opportunities: Below is a list of common opportunities. As other opportunities come up, they'll be communicated out through the club and an appropriate point value allocated. Watch your inbox for the 25_26 tracking sheet in the next couple of weeks!
