LLSCs CLUB UPDATES

Fall Dryland Program Schedule is Here!

8/5/2024

Picture
We are into the second half of summer and are thrilled to see registration from so many new and returning families. We are getting close to the start of dryland programming and our coaches are looking forward to get back to working with athletes for regular weekly programming.

Whether we are on the field working through agility and aerobic workouts, to trampoline at The Spot, Calgarys newest freestyle training facility, to working in a a world class gym with the Canadian Sport Institute at Winsport, we know that our athletes are in good hands and are developing valuable skills that will set them on a path to success when we get back on snow.

While specific details and times will be communicated via the Team Snap calendar in the coming weeks, athletes can look forward to the following programming starting in September.

All Race and Big Mountain Comp athletes have Mon/Wed/Saturday Field dryland included in your base programs..  Once we have 2024:25 Team Snap set up, you will be able to update your availability for these activities.

Programs that require additional registration, either via RAMP or with an outside provider are listed below along with details on how to signup.

Field Dryland Add On for Junior Rippers
Field Dryland in a foundational program that develops athletic abilities like; balance, coordination, agility and fundamental speed training for young athletes that all lead to a baseline general physical preparedness. We focus on providing a fun and engaging environment where movement quality comes before intensity and athletes have a variety of activities each session where they can see measurable improvements with consistent attendance.  Registration to be complete in RAMP (included in all Big Mountain Comp programs).

CSI Training at Winsport  (NOW SOLD OUT FOR FALL 2024)
Race and Freeride Athletes born 2010 and older have the opportunity to train Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Canadian Sport Institute guided by programming and coaches. This is our second year working with CSI and are excited to see the growth of athletes who have participated in previous seasons.  It is an excellent training group of BMC, U16 and FIS athletes and can't wait for more new faces to join this fall.   Registration to be completed in RAMP.

Trampoline Training at The Spot YYC
Calgary's newest indoor freestyle training facility will be our home for trampoline this season. With certified coaches that are part of our LLSCs on snow staff, and athletes who continue to pursue new skills and challenge their limits we are willing to bet this is our best season of trampoline yet for our Big Mountain Comp crew.  Registration to be completed in RAMP.

Shred Sisters Bike Skills Program:
Open to ALL genders, Shred Sisters is running a mountain bike skills program  that will allow athletes to gain confidence on the trails, while developing skills that transferable on snow. This program is aimed at athletes who are novice to lower intermediate riders ages 10 - 14 (athletes outside of this age range can be considered, visit the registration page or contact us for more details).  There is actually a Saturday or Saturday/Sunday option as long as we have numbers to fill both sessions. Shred Sisters Registration is open until August 31st or until programs are full.

Stay tuned for updates on programs as we move through our physical prep season.  Other opportunities on the horizon are skating at the Olympic Oval, Fitset Ninja Parkour and Excel Fitness in Canmore and our FIS and U16 athletes will once agin participate in the Canmore Crusher Outdoor Fitness Competition put on by CrossFit Canmore.

We believe that dryland is an essential component of athletic development and encourage all athletes to participate in programming that is available to them.  Grizzlies athletes should continue to pursue multi-sport participation outside of the club.  Athletes with specific needs or alternative programming, or for athletes outside of Calgary and the Bow Valley, please reach out to your program head coach or Athletic Director Jennifer Clarridge so we can get you started.
