Lake Louise Ski Club was founded in the late 1970’s by Joe Irwin with Mike Wiegele as the first Program Director. The Read’s, Irwin’s and the Rooney’s were the founding legacy of our club representing us on the World Cup Stage and in multiple Olympics. We are the home of the only Canadian stop of the World Cup Circuit and proud host of many youth events. Our athletes have the opportunity to train on the Men's Downhill as well as the exceptional terrain the Lake Louise Ski Resort has to offer. Not only do we have a history of successful athletes, we have a strong community of volunteers and coaches to support our athletes, many of whom grew up in the club themselves.
Over the years the Lake Louise Ski Club has grown into a family of Clubs and our focus has broadened. The Lake Louise Athlete Development Association, operating as, the Lake Louise Ski Clubs, includes the Lake Louise Grizzlies Ski Club, Lake Louise All Mountain Ski Club and Lake Louise Ski Club. Our athlete’s range in age from 5 to 21 years old. The Lake Louise Grizzlies Ski Club is the foundation to our family of Clubs as home to all our U10 and younger athletes. We foster good sportsmanship, teamwork and a love of outdoor activities. Our athletes are provided with world class ski coaching in small group environments designed to maximize both technique and enjoyment. Athletes are introduced to alpine racing, all mountain and park skiing. Graduating Grizzlies aspiring to be big mountain skier’s transition into the Lake Louise All Mountain Ski Club and those looking for a race focus into the original Lake Louise Ski Club. We offer flexibility in our programs to allow athletes to achieve a balance between sport and academics. |
