As the snow blankets our beloved Lake Louise, we're gearing up for another thrilling ski season, and I can't help but share my excitement with each of you—our dedicated athletes, supportive parents, and the heart of our club, the fantastic administrators and coaching staff. The mountains are calling, and they're promising an extraordinary season ahead! Rewind to my younger days (yes.... skiing for our friendly rivals, the Banff Alpine Racers!), I realize how these slopes didn't just shape my skiing but crafted lifelong memories and friendships. My parents, not knowing what they were getting themselves into as winter-intolerant Greeks when they registered my siblings and I for skiing, rapidly became part of the ski community which we are all a part of. For them it meant learning a new sport, pride in volunteering to make the dozens of events and programs run effectively but the part that I believe was the most important was the life-long friendships that were formed through the ski community. Friendships that were forged in supporting our children but also supporting each other. Skiing, often seen as a solo adventure, is ironically one of the most social sports out there. Most of our time is spent sharing laughs on chairlifts, exchanging stories at the bottom of the slopes, or enjoying a beverage at the PK together after a day's adventure. This camaraderie is the spirit of the Lake Louise Ski Clubs. This year, I'm throwing a friendly challenge to all parents: take a morning or afternoon to ski with someone from the club you haven't skied with before. All of the best friendships start on a chairlift! As your President, I'm incredibly proud of our club's diversity—from our young Grizzlies mastering the basics, to the dynamism of our All Mountain Program, and the sheer talent of our Race and FIS athletes. We're not just about skiing; we're about nurturing lifelong enthusiasts of this beautiful sport. So, as the holidays twinkle on the horizon, let's hit the slopes with enthusiasm and friendship. Here's to an amazing season and joyous holidays! Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs November was busy, and we had more athletes than ever hitting snow alongside our dedicated coaches; which bring rise to our yearly kick-off of recognizing our monthly R.I.S.E. Athletes and Coaches of the Month. Celebrating these ambassadors each month through our season is a chance to highlight our club's spirit, values, and get to know some of our awesome members. For three seasons we have awarded athlete and parents with R.I.S.E. hats. But we've realized we've been missing out on a a crucial part of our community --- our PARENTS! You are such a huge part of our community and as much ambassadors for the LLSCs as anyone else. We are excited to include our Parents into our month R.I.S.E. recognition program. Head over to our RISE Webpage to catch our monthly R.I.S.E. Ambassadors, and to take opportunity to use our brand new RISE NOMINATION FORM. This is your chance to shine the spotlight on an individual(s) you believe should be considered for a RISE award this season. A HUGE THANK YOU to our RISE Sponsor, GearUp Mountain Sports for supporting this program with new RISE hats, bag tags, and of course a complimentary tune for our coach winners skis each month!

Sanne ZonneveldMember Services, Alberta Alpine Ski Association LLAMSC is happy to announce that we are going back to the Blanket Glacier Ski Hut with CAPOW guiding this April. The trip will take place April 17th-21st, 2024. The total cost of the trip is $2550, and that includes the helicopter ride in and out of the EHframe, 5-star meals cooked by their amazing chefs, and beautiful ski touring and avalanche safety learning opportunities guided by the world-renowned CAPOW guides. The athletes and parents that came along last April had an absolute blast skiing pow, building backcountry booters, popping pillows, and learning about the interior BC snowpack. The guides Lisa, Seb, and Aaron showed us an amazing time and we have all been dreaming of going back since. Please keep in mind that the athletes who attend must have their AST 1 and be older then 14 years old. Registration is up to the coach’s discretion, and seats are reserved for the Lake Louise All Mountain Ski Club. If you are interested, please contact [email protected].
