LLSCs CLUB UPDATES

Snow Safety – On and Off the Resort

1/4/2024

Picture
Lake Louise Ski Clubs is once again excited to be partnering with Lisa Paulson, IFMAG Mountain Guide, CAA Professional Member, Parks Canada Avalanche Forecaster, & Visitor Safety Specialist.  For more information about Lisa’s impressive experience, have a look at our website.

As a Club we feel all members should have an introduction to Snow Safety.  All our athletes, including our Grizzlies, are introduced in an age-appropriate manner during their day-to-day training.  For our athletes 12 and up, Lisa is offering a Youth Avalanche Safety course where the focus is learning on how to stay safe within the ski resort boundaries. This will be on Saturday, January 13.  This course is sponsored by Avalanche Canada so is free of charge, however registration in RAMP is still required.

Lisa will be offering an AST 1 Plus course for members 14 years and older – yes that includes you parents. Based on the survey we circulated in the fall Lisa has slightly modified the course format – the classroom portion will be offered via 2 Zoom sessions, both 1.5 hours followed by one in person session in the timing shack.  The classroom sessions will be followed by 2 field days.  This allows Lisa to cover companion rescues in more depth as well as go for a short tour.  This is particularly valuable for our athletes participating in our Blanket Hut Trip as it will give them a change to test their equipment before the trip.

Dates are as follows for the AST 1 Plus
  • Zoom sessions: January 30 & February 1
  • In person in class session: February 3
  • Field days: March 16 & 17

Registration for both courses is open now.  The link is provided below.

Blanket Glacier Hut Trip

12/6/2023

Picture
LLAMSC is happy to announce that we are going back to the Blanket Glacier Ski Hut with CAPOW guiding this April. The trip will take place April 17th-21st, 2024. The total cost of the trip is $2550, and that includes the helicopter ride in and out of the EHframe, 5-star meals cooked by their amazing chefs, and beautiful ski touring and avalanche safety learning opportunities guided by the world-renowned CAPOW guides.

The athletes and parents that came along last April had an absolute blast skiing pow, building backcountry booters, popping pillows, and learning about the interior BC snowpack. The guides Lisa, Seb, and Aaron showed us an amazing time and we have all been dreaming of going back since.

Please keep in mind that the athletes who attend must have their AST 1 and be older then 14 years old. Registration is up to the coach’s discretion, and seats are reserved for the Lake Louise All Mountain Ski Club. If you are interested, please contact [email protected].

To see more amazing videos and photos, go check out @blanketglacierchalet on Instagram, or check out their website, http://www.blanketglacierchalet.com.

Come join us at the EHframe this season!
