Lake Louise Ski Clubs is once again excited to be partnering with Lisa Paulson, IFMAG Mountain Guide, CAA Professional Member, Parks Canada Avalanche Forecaster, & Visitor Safety Specialist. For more information about Lisa’s impressive experience, have a look at our website. As a Club we feel all members should have an introduction to Snow Safety. All our athletes, including our Grizzlies, are introduced in an age-appropriate manner during their day-to-day training. For our athletes 12 and up, Lisa is offering a Youth Avalanche Safety course where the focus is learning on how to stay safe within the ski resort boundaries. This will be on Saturday, January 13. This course is sponsored by Avalanche Canada so is free of charge, however registration in RAMP is still required. Lisa will be offering an AST 1 Plus course for members 14 years and older – yes that includes you parents. Based on the survey we circulated in the fall Lisa has slightly modified the course format – the classroom portion will be offered via 2 Zoom sessions, both 1.5 hours followed by one in person session in the timing shack. The classroom sessions will be followed by 2 field days. This allows Lisa to cover companion rescues in more depth as well as go for a short tour. This is particularly valuable for our athletes participating in our Blanket Hut Trip as it will give them a change to test their equipment before the trip. Dates are as follows for the AST 1 Plus
Registration for both courses is open now. The link is provided below. Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs Comments are closed.
