Welcome to the 2024/2025 Ski Season!Hello everyone, I'm Saya Fryer, and I'm truly honored to step into the role of President at the Lake Louise Ski Clubs. Since joining this amazing community in 2017 and as a proud mom of a U15 Freeride Athlete, I'm deeply committed to our club's mission and vision. As we embark on the 2024/2025 season, I warmly welcome back our returning families and athletes—it's great to have you with us again. To our new families and athletes, I hope your time with us is enjoyable and rewarding. A heartfelt thank you to our coaching staff for your dedication in crafting excellent programing for this upcoming ski season. Our clubs—Race, Grizzlies, and Freeride—thrive on the passion, commitment, and camaraderie of all involved. We're dedicated to creating an environment that nurtures not just athletic prowess, but also personal growth and lifelong friendships. Above all, we aim to inspire a lifelong love for skiing. Together, we'll continue to build on our legacy of excellence and create unforgettable experiences both on and off the slopes. Let's make this ski season incredible! And let's hope for a La Niña season, bringing us more snow! Thank you for your trust and support. Saya FryerPresident, Lake Louise Ski Clubs & Lake Louise Freeride Ski Club Hello and welcome to the 2024-25 ski season! The larches are turning gold, and snow is starting to dust the mountains as mother nature lets us know ski season is just around the corner. As with every season, your coaches will go through a cycle of the 4 E'e. Envision, Enact, Evaluate and Enhance. This past weekend, a dozen of our lead coaches from all clubs met in Canmore to share some experiences and discuss our vision and tactics on how to enhance the season ahead. If you haven't already, I suggest you start spending some quality family time around the house in your ski boots to make sure everyone has happy feet when you hit the slopes. Happy feet are fast feet. We recommend athletes who are registered for Winsport Add On Packages in U12, U14 and Freeride purchase a season pass for 2024:25. FREERIDE athletes MUST also add the ADVANCED TERRAIN PARK PASS to their season pass as we frequently use facilities this pass is required for. U10 Athletes (both Grizzly 1 day and Grizzly Plus) planning to ski at Winsport should plan to purchase single day tickets to participate in their Winsport Add On Package based on the number of program days scheduled at Winsport. If you are planning to register for evening Winsport training and have not yet added the package in RAMP, please do so as soon as possible. Not only will you get to take advantage of early bird passes, but it also helps us plan appropriate staffing for these sessions. Space is still available for U10+, U12 Race & U14 Race. Grizzly 1 Day & Freeride nights are full. Training Times By Program:

Dear Lake Louise Ski Club Families, I hope you're enjoying another exhilarating season on the slopes and with snow on the way this weekend as well as lots of events, let's hope we go out with a bang! As we continually strive to enhance your chidrens' experiences and uphold the values of our RISE program—Respect, Inclusion, Support, and Effort—we invite you to share your insights and feedback through our annual member survey. Your input is invaluable in helping us celebrate our successes and address any challenges head-on. To foster transparency and direct communication, the survey will not be anonymous. This ensures that we can follow up personally on any concerns, making sure every family is heard and every issue is addressed. This survey is your opportunity to reflect on the season and let us know what's worked, what hasn't, and how your children have benefited from our programs. Whether it's the professionalism of our coaching staff, the community atmosphere, or how we live up to our motto, "WE LOVE TO SKI, JOIN US!", we're eager to hear from you. Please, take a moment to complete the survey and help us continue to create a nurturing, challenging, and inclusive environment for our skiers. Your feedback directly influences our strategic direction and helps us maintain our standing as one of Canada’s prime environments for skiing excellence and passion. Thank you for being a part of our community. Together, we're not just skiing; we're building lifelong skiers and friends! Stavros KarlosPresident, Lake Louise Ski Clubs With March madness (many moving parts and events) just around the corner, I wanted to bring your attention to our Cheer or Volunteer concept while attending a race or freeride competitions. While at an event, we encourage all our parents to attend and show support to our athletes. The best ways do so, is to register as a volunteer or find a good spot to watch from on the hill and cheer. It should be noted that venues are very different, some require a lift ticket to watch, and some may not require volunteers from visiting clubs which leaves you with the cheering option. Volunteering is a great way to engage with the community, learn best practices of hosting an event, learn about the sport and to be a part of the action. Bonus fact: It typically comes with a free lift ticket and a lunch. If you choose to volunteer, the first step is to ensure you are a registered member of Alberta Alpine for insurance purposes (check out https://www.lakelouiseskiclubs.ca/newsfeed/urgent-alberta-alpine-parent-membership for more details). Without your confirmed registration, you will not be allowed inside the fences. Should you choose to cheer, which is also recommended and required sometimes (no one should volunteer at every race), we ask you to do so from outside the fences and respect the coaches’ roles and responsibilities (https://www.lakelouiseskiclubs.ca/roles.html). Have fun at the races, make friends, show your support to the athletes, and as always act with the RISE principles in mind. Gavin PreziosiExecutive Director, Lake Louise Ski Clubs The Lake Louise Ski Clubs is proud to share the first year FIS athlete Kael Johnston has qualified as one of four athletes to represent Canada in Ski Cross at the 2024 Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon South Korea. “The ski cross athletes were selected based on their performances and ranking during a selection camp and competition in Nakiska, Alberta earlier in December. The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are the world’s largest multi-sport event for high-performance young athletes aged 15 – 18. Gangwon 2024 will begin on January 19 and will end on February 1, 2024, and will feature 1900 athletes. Gangwon 2024 will be the fourth edition of the Winter YOG and the first in Asia. It will have a fully gender-balanced sporting program, and will feature seven sports, 15 disciplines, and a total of 81 events.” The Ski cross will take place January 23 and 24 (Days 4 and 5) at the Welli Hilli Park Ski Resort! Congratulations Kael! Named as alternates to the Canadian YOG roster are fellow LLSC FIS athletes Thomas Cais and Abby Garnsey! You can read the full press release from Alpine Canada here!
