GearUp Mountain Sports in Canmore is thrilled to announce its continued sponsorship of our RISE Program for the 2023-24 season. With the the support of GearUp, we are proud to provide each athlete in the club with a RISE bag tag as a reminder of our RISE philosophy. At the Lake Louise Ski Club, RISE stands for Respect, Inclusion, Support, and Effort. This philosophy shines in everything we do, promoting athletic development and character growth. Our RISE Athletes of the Month are given a special spotlight, earning their very own RISE hat. In addition to this recognition, our RISE Coaches of the Month receive a RISE hat and a complimentary GearUp tune. It's a way to acknowledge and celebrate excellence within our club, from our talented athletes to our dedicated coaches. GearUp isn't just a sponsor; they're an integral part of our community. Once again, they will be donating a pair of skis to be presented to one of our lucky RISE athletes or coaches, of the month, drawn at the year-end banquet. This generous contribution adds an element of excitement and anticipation to our annual celebration. GearUp understands that a successful partnership involves giving back to the community. For the month of October, they are running their Annual TuneUp Special, offering a full tune at only $49.95 (regularly $74.95). This is the perfect opportunity to get your skis race and all mountain skis in top shape for the upcoming season. For the rest of the season, GearUp is extending a 15% discount on all regular-priced tuning services to club members,. This ongoing discount ensures that maintaining your equipment is affordable and hassle-free. It's as easy as mentioning you are with the Lake Louise Ski Clubs when you drop off your gear. For families who prefer to maintain their skis between professional tunes, GearUp has you covered with a good selection of wax and tuning equipment in stock, and they have even more arriving soon. This means you can take control of your gear's maintenance and performance. Let's embrace the winter season and RISE together with the help of GearUp Mountain Sports! Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs We are incredibly excited to announce a new partnership with Ski West. Ski West is generously donating a $1000 gift card to each of our Skier for Life Bursary recipients starting this year! The club sets aside 2% of the previous seasons' program fees to help families by providing up to a 50% discount on an athletes basic fees. Ski West's partnership in the program will go a long way in achieving the Clubs' goal of keeping young athletes in the sport! We all know skiing is an expensive sport. If you are ever in a position where support is needed, please reach out to Member Services. We are always ready and willing to work with you! Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs Come out and support our current Alberta Ski Team athletes, including LLSCs alum Caleb Brooks, as well as the upcoming Development Team, including LLSC current FIS athletes Olivier Brooks, Kyleigh McConnell and Kate Smith! Unable to attend and you would still like to support our athletes? Alberta Alpine is still accepting donations for their silent auction. All funds raised from the auction will go directly towards the athletes costs this season. Please contact Genevieve Giroux for more information. Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, LLSCs I'd like to take a moment to thank each of you who have already registered yourself as a volunteer with Alberta Alpine this season. For those who have not, this is a friendly reminder that every parent with the club needs to be registered independently of their athlete. This fee replaces the Family Membership you have had to purchase in past seasons. This change is in anticipation of Safe Sport agreement requirements for individuals. Cost details and how to register can be found here: www.lakelouiseskiclubs.ca/newsfeed/new-this-season-alberta-alpine-parent-registration. It is important to note that it is essential for all parents that this be completed before their athletes start on snow this fall as you will not be able to volunteer without completing the registration. You can click on your respective clubs button below to complete the registration process. Stephanie JohnstonMember Services, Lake Louise Ski Clubs The ski sale is rapidly approaching and there are still a few spots, most importantly on Sunday. This is the last opportunities to get your financial credit that is required for your volunteer commitment for the 2023-2024 season and you will earn 10 points per shift worked. All Mountain and Grizzlies families can earn all required credits for the season by working 2 shifts! Fil Hrazdira and Kristin LangLLSCs Ski Sale Management Committee The club is hosting a 50/50 raffle during the Calgary New & Used Ski Sale. Our intentions are to target a population outside of the club and to keep this one out of your inboxes. We do want to give club members the to option to purchase tickets in advance if they are interested and hope that you share amongst your friends and family. We are hoping this sells out quickly! The draw opens on Monday October 16th and the winner will be drawn on Sunday October 22nd at the Calgary New & Used Ski Sale. Still looking for a way to have your athlete earn some volunteer points? There are still a few openings for athletes to come out and promote the raffle at the sale itself. Click here to sign up. Jeremy AshTreasurer, LLADA & LLGSC Treasurer With the Calgary New & Used Ski Sale rapidly approaching it is time to ensure we fill our required quota of volunteers. The Ski Sale is the Lake Louise Ski Clubs single largest fundraiser annually bringing in $40,000 for our family of Clubs. For this to continue we need to contribute 20% of the total volunteer hours required to run the sale. As of writing this we still need to fill another 40 shifts from October 18-22, 2023. If you've watched the video above from the 2022 Ski Sale, you'll understand the magnitude of the event and how important volunteers are in its success, as well as how important it is to our family of clubs. Who can volunteer? Any club member, friend or family member who is 16 or older can volunteer. Please make sure to select the Lake Louise Ski Clubs when signing up to ensure your time is credited to us. Why do LLSCs members volunteer? Firstly, to meet your families volunteer commitment for the season, in particular the financial one. You can find the policy here (https://www.lakelouiseskiclubs.ca/volunteering.html) for all the details. With our casino for the season now done, the ski sale is your easiest way to meet the finanical requirement. And yes, 100% of your volunteer points can come from financial opportunities. Secondly, it does not matter when you sign up to volunteer, all volunteers are welcome to stop by the Thursday evening presale before the crowds have access to the merchandise! Why do LLSCs friends and family members volunteer? See reason #2 above! Friends and family shifts also count towards your families total volunteer points needed for the season. What to do if your athlete is under 16 and they would like to volunteer? New this year, ski sale volunteers must be 16 or older, however, the LLSCs is running a raffle Friday, Saturday and Sunday along with a booth during open hours of the sale to promote a number of club initiatives. This booth will be run primarily by LLSCs staff, and we inviting younger athletes to help with this endeavour. Athletes will be asked to help with a 2 hour shifts (with a LLSCs staff present at all times), and 2 volunteer points/hour they help at our table with points counting towards your financial credits. Athletes are more than welcome to sign up for multiple shifts. We hope that many of you can join us this year and we will continue to update the club on volunteer positions needed until we have met our required commitment.
